The weather may still be a tad warm here in LA, but I do smell a hint of cinnamon in the air which has me so excited for fall foods and reasons to get cozy! Fall in LA is a bit different. We don’t start bringing out our sweaters until late October. Locals still go to the beach and you’ll find that the grills and bbq still get a lot of use. With that being said, I love a fall evening where we can crack open a bottle of wine, enjoy light bites al fresco, and relax in LA’s nearly perfect temperatures.

This past weekend, my parents visited me and my fiancé in our new place. We haven’t had anyone over yet, as it’s only been a short bit until we became fully furnished. Decorations have been in moving boxes, but if you’re in a pinch, you can create a great table with simple pieces such as corn flower stems and succulents. Now that we have settled in, what better excuse to get the family together complete with our favorite blends from AVA Grace Vineyards.

I get my affinity for cooking from my Mom. She is a wonderful cook who prefers scouring cookbooks over New York Times best-sellers. So when I heard that my parents were coming to visit last minute, I decided to make a quick pumpkin soup full of fall spices like nutmeg and cinnamon, and a cheese board to pair with their favorite blends: Pinot Grigio and Chardonnay. They haven’t tried AVA Grace before, so I thought, why not have them try both before we head to our dinner in the city.

If you’re more of a Chardonnay kind of gal (like my Mom) you’ll like AVA Grace’s hints of oak and almonds, which paired nicely with the pumpkin and spices of my soup. The Pinot Grigio has a hint of stone fruit, reminiscent of a warm apple pie or nectarine galette. Regardless of anyone’s palette, you will enjoy both blends and I would happily entertain future guests with both.

Sips and light bites with the family was time well spent. I love that you can entertain effortlessly with these wines and that they go with so many different fall foods and fall occasions. I’m sure we’ll be bringing out more AVA Grace wines at our family get-togethers and holiday parties. Thank you for reading, and cheers to fall feasting and family!
