Our Favorite Warm Weather Cocktails

Cooking & Recipes

For many of us, summer means scorching temperatures, lounging by the pool (or lake or beach), backyard cookouts, and time spent with friends and family. Central to those occasions are food and drinks, but we’re not talking about the same old standbys. Give your favorite cocktails a fresh update this summer by making them with wine.

Wine pairs well with everything: pizza, salad, freshly-grilled chicken or steak, or chips and guac. Plus, wine cocktails are refreshing and light, so you can avoid that heavy, full feeling that comes with other drinks. As a bonus, you can make wine cocktails ahead of time and in batches, which makes them ideal for summer entertaining, whether your group includes just your significant other or a small group.

To inspire some wine-themed mixology, we’ve rounded up our favorite summer wine cocktail recipes featuring a mix of white and Rosé AVA Grace wines.

AVA Grace Sauvignon Blanc Spritzer with blueberries

Sauv Blanc Spritzer

It doesn’t get much easier than a cocktail with just three ingredients! A spritzer is super-simple to make, but the addition of summer fruit elevates it, making it a summer entertaining go-to.

Mix three parts wine to one part tonic, then add ice to your glass, leaving about one-quarter empty. Add in your fruit, then stir. The combinations are endless, so consider using a mixture of strawberries and blueberries or peaches and cherries.

AVA Grace Chardonnay lemonade cocktail

Chardon-ade

What’s more refreshing than a glass of ice-cold lemonade on a summer day? Lemonade made with chardonnay! Even better, it requires just four ingredients and can easily be customized.

  • 4 ounces AVA Grace Chardonnay
  • 2 ounces sparkling water
  • 1 ounce agave nectar or simple syrup
  • Juice of a fresh lemon

Combine chardonnay, sparkling water, and agave nectar, then pour over ice. Top with fresh lemon juice to taste. For a tangier lemonade taste, use more lemon juice. You can also add fresh berries or experiment with different citrus fruits.

AVA Grace Watermelon Frosé made with Rosé

Watermelon Frosé

Watermelon and frozen treats are synonymous with summer, so they make a perfectly natural (and delicious!) pair in cocktail form. This drink requires a blender, but still comes together fast and with minimal effort.

  • 3 ounces AVA Grace Rosé
  • 1 ounce vodka
  • 1/2 cup fresh watermelon cubes
  • 1/2 lime, juiced
  • Ice

Combine rosé, vodka, watermelon, and lime juice in blender and pulse until it begins to look like a slushy. Slowly add ice and continue to blend until you’re satisfied with the consistency.

AVA Grace Pineapple and Pinot Grigio cocktail

Pineapple Grigio

If you’ve ever heard someone use the term “vacation in a glass,” they may have been referring to our Pineapple Grigio. The combination of pineapple and coconut is perfectly tropical and exotic.

  • 4 ounces AVA Grace Pinot Grigio
  • 1 cup pineapple chunks, frozen
  • 1/4 cup coconut milk (the creamy canned kind found in the Asian foods aisle)

Combine all ingredients in blender and process until smooth. You can also customize your cocktail by adding in strawberries, mango, or other seasonal fruits.
