How to Create the Perfect Cheese Board
Cooking & Recipes
Wine and cheese are one of the most classic pairings for a good reason – they taste positively divine together. With the release of our new Cabernet Sauvignon, we wanted to share our guide to creating the perfect cheese board. Whether you’re having a romantic date night for two at home, or need to bring an hors d’oeuvre to your in-laws, this cheese board is sure to impress everyone.
First, pick your board
Choose a board or plate that is large enough to support your vision. Our top choices include large wooden cutting boards our marble cheese plates.
Gather your cheeses
The perfect cheese board consists of three cheeses: something soft, something aged, and something firm.
Soft: Brie, Goat Cheese, Burrata
Aged: Sharp Aged Cheddar, Gruyere, Gouda
Firm: Parmigiano Reggiano, Comté, Manchego
Remember to take your cheeses out of the refrigerator at least one-hour before serving.
Select you charcuittere
Cured meats pair splendidly with cheese. Pick out two to three of your favorites, like a prosciutto, salami, pepperoni, or chorizo.
Add in some seasonal fruits
Go with what’s in season. This time of year, some of our favorites include ripe figs, fresh pears, crisp apples, refreshing grapes, and pomegranate seeds. Go the extra mile and check out your local farmers market to get some of the most delicious seasonal fruits.
Don’t forget carbs
Get an assortment of crackers, breadsticks, and breads. Its fun to have an assortment of different flavors and textures.
Pro tip: If you want your baguette to taste like its fresh out of the oven, run your loaf quickly under water, and place immediately into a 450 oven for 5 min. Your friends will think you had it delivered fresh from a bakery.
Garnish with finishing touches
Let your creativity shine! Fill all of the remaining empty space up with your favorite garnishes. A handful of nuts, a small bowl of olives. You could include some fresh jams from your favorite local store, and a drizzle of honey. Add some herbs to elevate the look of your plate. We highly recommend a couples of sprigs of rosemary – it looks so elegant and smells fantastic.
Pour the wine
Of course, we designed this cheeseboard specifically with our decadent Cabernet Sauvignon in mind. However, this cheeseboard will pair wonderfully with many of your favorite wines. Open a bottle of our favorite vino, and enjoy!
